The Challenger By Brunswick- Balke-Collender Company Circa 1942 Serial Number PB 415
The Challenger was one of only a few models build between 1939 and 1944.
The table varied slightly in materials during the war
years, possibly because of the war effort shortages. This table has nickel plated Pocket Covers and painted feature strips on the Legs and oak Rail Caps.
It is a pro-eight foot size, 46” X 92”
playing area. The slate is a three-piece, one-inch thick set, from Brunswick’s Pennsylvania mines.
The original decals showing the model and the Woodworkers Union logo are still in great shape as
well as Brunswick’s logo that is burnt into the Head Rail. The unusual color, best described as muted maroon is also authentic.
